Tips and tricks for the bride to make sure you are stunning and unforgettable on your wedding day.
HAIR & MAKEUP
Schedule a hair and makeup trial far before the wedding and try multiple artists and stylists. Be sure to have a few different pictures of hairstyle possibilities to try during your hair trial. There may be that one style you absolutely love in the picture and feel like you don’t even need to try it out but believe me you never know until you see it on yourself. Just think of how many times you say “this looked way better on the mannequin” when you’re in the dressing room at the mall. This goes for makeup as well! An artist’s profile may look impressive, but you may not fall in love after just your first trial. And if you're wanting to try a new hair cut or color, make sure to test it out a few months before the wedding so you have time to change it up if you don't like the results.
WAX OR SHAVE
It’s completely up to your preference but waxes are definitely recommended, especially for weddings. You’ll be smoother than ever and won’t have to touch up for weeks! If you haven’t had a wax before, try it out first at least a month before the wedding just to make sure you don’t have any rare reaction to it. When choosing a wax shop, do not go the cheap route! You run the risk of it hurting much more and not lasting as long as it should. Another tip, unless you are a seasoned wax customer, do not schedule more than one wax service in one day. Meaning, don’t get a Brazilian, eyebrow, and leg wax all in one session. Waxes are efficient but they hurt…a lot, especially Brazilians which is the main one to get for weddings and if you’re new to the service, you don’t want to overwhelm your body. Also, consider using body oil as opposed to lotion the morning of the wedding for extra smooth skin.
USE SPRAY DEODORANT
Using a spray deodorant avoids those embarrassing deodorant streaks and clumps under the arms. Also, try to get an aluminum-free deodorant if you can. Aluminum is the ingredient in deodorant that combines with sweat to create those nasty yellow stains on clothing under the arms.
START A TEETH-WHITENING REGIMEN
Begin this process about a month before the wedding. Whether it's whitening strips or a fancy UV system, you'll definitely want to make sure you have your whitest whites the day of the wedding.
START A FACE CLEANSING REGIMEN
If you already have one, be sure to commit to it without fail to make sure you have zero breakouts. If you don't have one, do some research or see a dermatologist or esthetician to choose the right regimen for you. Be sure to start the new regimen months before the wedding to make sure you don't have any allergic reactions and it gives you the best results for perfect skin.
MANI + PEDI
Now for the lady who knows exactly what she wants and has been going to the same shop for years, you’re probably fine to just schedule one appointment for the week of the wedding. But for the lady who doesn’t usually get her nails professionally done and/or isn’t completely sure what color or design she wants, you’ll definitely want to start experimenting a couple months before the wedding. That way every two weeks, when it’s time for a touch-up, you can test out a different color/design until you find the perfect one at the perfect shop and then schedule your final appointment for the week of the wedding.
MANAGE YOUR WEIGHT
Make sure you are at your ideal weight by the time of your dress fitting and be sure to stay at that weight. Your goal weight deadline is not the wedding date, it's the dress fitting date. Otherwise, you'll end up paying for a lot of additional alterations.
